About Us

Pawesome Academy is a doggy daycare with a difference, owned and operated by professional dog trainers and committed to providing positive experiences for your dogs that enrich their lives!

We have a team of experienced staff that are hand picked to deliver quality services to your fur family! Our staff to dog ratio is kept high to ensure we are creating a safe and fun environment for all. All three Adventure Zones of our daycare have staff in attendance supervising our dogs all day long, as well as providing a variety of activities throughout the day so that your dog comes home happy & fulfilled!

Our zones are packed with equipment that has been purpose built for dogs such as built in pool, purpose built mountain, tunnels, bridges and ramps. We also have ‘chill out’ time as it is vital that dogs can rest & recharge their batteries to ensure they continue to regulate their emotions and play during the day.

To get the most out of your day at Pawesome Academy we also provide a wide range of additional services including beach / park excursions, training at daycare, bath & grooming options as well as our Pawesome shop in reception where you can pick up all your dog food & gear!

About The Owner

Hi!

My names Emma and I took over Pawesome Academy in September 2021.

I have been a dog lover my whole life. Growing up there was always a dog in my household that I loved taking care of and bonding with. I started fostering dogs and puppies from 10 years old and have fostered over 50 dogs in my life so far!

As a teenager I was always bringing home stray dogs that would follow me everywhere I went and I knew that taking care of dogs was my calling in life. In high school I opted to undertake a course in Animal Companion Studies through the Animal Welfare League instead of attending school sport & also volunteered at the AWL in my free time.

In 2015 I was introduced to the world of dog sports with my dachshund Frankie through my trainer (and now friend & colleague) Janet. The first dog sport I competed in was ANKC Obedience, and have gone on to also compete in Rally-O, Scentwork, Tricks & PSA with my dogs and this is one of my greatest passions. To this day I have competed in over 250 competitions and this number is always rising!

In 2017 I adopted a mixed breed dog named Nala who I quickly realised needed more help behaviourally than I was prepared for, and this brought me to begin my formal dog training journey. Dedicated to becoming the best version of myself so that I could help Nala live the happy life she deserves. I studied a Certificate in Dog Psychology and completed practical work through Gold Coast Dog Obedience Club. I also began teaching at International Dog Training School where I was a former student.

I firmly believe in always updating & furthering your knowledge so you will always find me listening to dog training podcasts in the car whenever I’m not out training a dog or caring for dogs at daycare. For many years I have attended numerous dog training courses and seminars each year from highly respected trainers I look up to such as Pat Stuart, Michael Ellis & Jay Jack. Feeling up for a challenge, in 2021 I welcomed a working line Rottweiler into my family to continue furthering my training and dog sports knowledge.

These experiences have shaped the dog training concept at Pawesome Academy & the way we run our daycare facility. Our focus is on safety, enrichment, training, good nutrition (because food affects behaviour!!) and focussing on building a bond and relationship with dogs.

Dogs truly mean everything to me because I can connect with them so well - without dogs in my life I think I’d be lost. It’s a dream come true to work with dogs. I could never have imagined as a child it would actually happen.

My goal with Pawesome Academy is to help as many people and dogs as possible so they can live in harmony with eachother and do cool, fun things together! We’re on track to being a one stop shop for all things dogs and we plan on continuing to grow and expand!
